Extensive Mobility training for Mitra Jyothi staffs was conducted by Ms Sundareswari

During the month of July'18, extensive Mobility training for Mitra Jyothi staffs was conducted by Ms Sundareswari, an expert mobility trainer. She has trained thousands of visually impaired people over two decades in Mitra Jyothi.

The training started with indoor mobility by covering Mitra Jyothi premises to all staffs with blind fold. Once they were comfortable handling indoors, they were given outdoor mobility training to walk on road. The use of white cane and its technique was a key part of the training. They were trained to use the roads with blind fold with the support of canes. From how to use hands while taking support of walls for indoor walk till shoreline technique for outdoor mobility was covered. Above all human guide technique was focussed more since it is a key for staffs to support our Visually Impaired friends visiting Mitra Jyothi on a regular basis. We are sure that this training will help our staffs and beneficiaries in a big way.

In addition we encourage our volunteers, supporters and well-wishers to experience the blind fold walk with our staff’s guidance for awareness while they visit!!!!

Mobility is the key for any Visually Impaired person to live independently, and we hope such trainings will help in enabling more people in need effectively.
