Modern societies are based on knowledge and education and in a democratic world it is very important to have equal access to pluralistic knowledge. Even though, audio books and publications in accessible format are getting slightly available in the present world, still there is a gap in knowledge flow as there is many general reading books are still inaccessible for people with visual impairment and other learning disabilities.
The culture and language are getting transferred from generation to generation through literature. It consists of various functions and genres: educational textbooks, analytical scientific publications, critical debate books, entertaining novels, aesthetic poetry, and many others. One genre refers to another and they all create new ways of thinking. Static GK
Mitra Jyothi team with the support of a volunteer gathered information around Static GK from different sources and produced a book in braille, DAISY & ePub formats for the benefit of Visually Impaired especiallyUPSC aspirants. It connotes general knowledge about the static facts, the facts that are never going to change in the future. Facts in Static GK covers people, places, things, important days, currencies, dances etc. Candidates preparing for any competitive exam like bank exam, SSC exam, Insurance exam, any other Government exams or the most prestigious UPSC exams must keep abreast with major topics of static GK.
Hand book Union Council of Ministers 2019
A book on UNION COUNCIL OF MINISTERS 2019 is now available in English Language with EPub, daisy with Text and Braille formats at Mitra Jyothi. This book is a comprehensive compilation of all the ministries of Modi cabinet 2.0. It contains an elaborate description about each minister’s profile, ministries they are in-charge of, their duties & responsibilities and their full contact details. This book comes with the QR code which can be scanned and you will be able to use the same book in audio format. Good physical and mental health is the most valuable wealth in the present world. Practicing yoga is a proven method for rejuvenating and maintaining physical and mental health. Focus on physical fitness is equally important for everyone including visually impaired people. We believe that yoga helps visually impaired individuals physically strong and increases their balance by making them more sensitive to the information provided by touch and by the balance system. Generally, yoga is being practiced by seeing the instructions given by a trained instructor, but it is a challenge for the visually impaired. Considering all these facts Mitra Jyothi had come up with a special edition on yoga practice ‘Surya Namaskar’ which covers detailed description of all steps in Surya Namaskara.
Beginners guide for UPSC aspirants
Mitra Jyothi published a special edition for UPSC aspirants titled ‘Beginner’s guide for UPSC aspirants which covers all the necessary information for preparing UPSC exams in braille audio and ePub formats. This book provides an introduction about UPSC exam system including different levels of exams, exam structure. syllabus etc.
Industry Mitra publications
Industry Mitra is Mitra Jyothi’s quarterly audio magazine aims to familiarize the visually impaired listeners with the different industries in the country; their impact and scale, background, government policies, employment opportunities for the visually impaired across different industries and some inspiring success stories. This quarterly magazine is being published in DAISY/Digital Talking Book format for special distribution among visually impaired and people with other print disabilities. It also covers some book references at the end of each issue. The visually impaired listeners can access Industry Mitra in the YouTube channel as well. To date, there are a total of 8 issues of the magazine available on the internet covering Banking, IT Sector, Media & Entertainment Industry, Tourism & Hospitality Industry, Education Industry, Healthcare & Training Industries and Services sector.
India Year Book 2020 in accessible format for competitive exams reference
The ePub version of India year book 2020 made available at Mitra Jyothi Library and Sugamya Pusthakalaya for the benefit of Visually Impaired beneficiaries who are preparing for competitive exams. It covers all the important events happened recently within the country. This publication is getting attention from many candidates from all over the country and it is running as one of the most viewed publication of our Library for the past two years.
Basic Maths Primer& Basic English Primer
Targeting the beginners, especially Visually Impaired school students, Mitra Jyothi prepared a primer for Mathematics and made available in accessible format. It covers all the fundamentals of basic mathematics include number system, counting, and elementary arithmetic. It is a useful publication for teachers also to make the students understand basics of mathematics easily.
Similarly, Mitra Jyothi Published an English Primer with an aim to impart basic knowledge English language to the learners at any age group. It covers, alphabets,phonics fundamentals of grammar, sentence formation etc.
National Educational Policy 2020
Mitra Jyothiteam produced National Educational Policy 2020 in audio and braille formats. The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), which was approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020, outlines the vision of India's new education system. The new policy replaces the previous National Policy on Education, 1986. This covers all the highlights of the new education policy. This is equally useful for both the students and teachers who are visually impaired.
RPD Act 2016 (Kannada & English)
Mitra Jyothi made available accessible versions in ePub, braille & audio formats of RPD Act 2016 in both Kannada and English Languages. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPD) Act, 2016 is the disability legislation passed by the Indian Parliament to fulfil its obligation to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which India sanctioned in 2007. The Act replaced the existing Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.This special edition covers all the sections and entitlements of the act.

An accessible version of English – English – Kannada Standard dictionary by D. K Bharadwaj is now available in Mitra Jyothi Library. It is in audio format. It can be read in AMIS, DAISY PLAYER, FS reader. It can also be read on normal cell phones or on any CD player. This dictionary will be very useful for Visually Impaired students and was in demand since a long time. We believe that it will be very useful for daily references. This came out of our team’s hard work for almost 6 months and now it is time to yield results by giving it to as many as in need. Since the dictionary is in DAISY format, it helps the beneficiaries to navigate and search easily.
