SMC2 Team Visits Mitra Jyothi for CSR Activity
On September 23rd, 2022 a team of 14 members from SMC2 visited Mitra Jyothi as part of their
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. SMC2, a Dallas-based organization, specializes
in providing IT talent to US companies to accelerate innovation, develop digital products and
services, and manage basic operational tasks.
The Mitra Jyothi team warmly welcomed the visitors and provided a comprehensive orientation
of the facility. The team was introduced to the various programs offered by Mitra Jyothi,
including the Computer Training Centre, the Braille Press, the Digital Talking Book Library, and
the Independent Living Skills Program. SMC2 aims to support women empowerment through
these programs.
During their visit, the SMC2 team met with volunteers who provide tuition to our higher
education girls, aiding them in their studies. They conducted interviews with tutors, students, and
Ms. Madhu Singhal, capturing video recordings of these interactions. The compassionate tutors
shared their motivations for supporting visually impaired individuals and explained why they
extended their support to Mitra Jyothi.
Our students expressed their gratitude and shared how Mitra Jyothi has given them hope and
facilitated their academic success. Ms. Madhu Singhal spoke about her life journey, detailing
how she founded and developed the organization. The visitors were particularly impressed by the
mobility training program, which has empowered the girls to commute independently to their
colleges or hometowns.
The SMC2 team left the premises with admiration for Mitra Jyothi's impactful work and a
renewed determination to serve society in meaningful ways.
