Children from BACHPAN Play School Visit Mitra Jyothi for Awareness Program
On October 28, 2022, 15 children from BACHPAN Play School visited Mitra Jyothi as part of an
awareness program organized by their school. Accompanied by their teacher and an assistant, the
children brought a thoughtful grocery kit as a gift for our visually impaired residents.
Upon arrival, the children were welcomed and assembled for a brief introduction session with
Ms. Madhu Singhal, the Founder and Managing Trustee of Mitra Jyothi. Ms. Singhal provided
insights into the mission and work of Mitra Jyothi, setting the stage for an engaging and
educational experience. The children participated in interactive exercises designed to help them
understand how visually impaired individuals perceive the world. These activities included
closing their eyes for a few seconds and following sounds while blindfolded.
Following these exercises, the children were taken on a tour of the Braille Press, where they had
the opportunity to touch and explore Braille picture books. They also visited the Computer
Training Lab, where they learned about voice assistive technology and its role in aiding visually
impaired individuals.
The children expressed their excitement and happiness about the new perspectives they gained.
We thank BACHPAN Play School for taking the initiative of exposing children at a tender age to
understand what a visually impaired child goes through.
