Music Fest at Mitra Jyothi on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 3rd December 2021!!!

On the occasion of the annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), 3rd December 2021, a music fest was conducted in Mitra Jyothi. All the students of the current computer batch, the resident students, and all the staff have participated in the fest. The music fest was conducted very well under the effective moderation of our computer instructor Mr. Mansoor. Mansoor started the event with an interaction with the students about the theme of this year’s observance “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.”. At the beginning of the event, a devotional ‘sloka ‘was cited by our computer student, Kavya.

Ms. Madhu Singhal, Founder of Mitra Jyothi, delivered the inaugural speech. She started her speech by emphasizing the fact that, disability is not a barrier to achieving anything in life. She said, “All the persons have unique talents, and we only have to identify them correctly and showcase suitably”. Ms.Singhal Said that people with disabilities (PwDs) can also do all the things that are being done by the people without disabilities, the only need is, all the opportunities should be equally accessible to them also. Ms. Singhal told that IDPD is not a day to be celebrated by people with disabilities, but a day, the whole world is being observed to create awareness and to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society.

After the inaugural speech, a beautiful group song was sung by the resident students, with the orchestra’s support provided by the talents from the computer batch. Later Sahana, our computer student delivered a meaningful speech about IDPD’s this year theme. She mentioned all the challenges faced by PwDs during the covid time, and how they survived all these obstacles. She ended her speech by quoting the words of Helen Keller “When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us”.

A music competition was also organized as a part of the music fest. Our computer students Ashwini, Bhimshankar, Sreedhar, Premkumar, Salma, and Sahana have participated in the competition. Bhimshankar and Sreedhar supported the participants with the instruments’ support. Bhimshankar and Ashwini won the first and second prizes respectively. The function was ended with a vote of thanks by Mahaling, a computer trainee.
